From Theory to Simulation: A Deep Dive into BioVL & E-learning Tools
On April 4th, 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting a hybrid training school dedicated to the advanced use of BioVL, the virtual laboratory developed by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Participants joined us to explore the BioVL platform, gaining hands-on experience in bioprocess modeling and simulation. From navigating different bioprocess models to testing simulation parameters—and even interacting with a custom AI-powered chatbot—this workshop offered a unique blend of theory and practice. In this 4-day training school, attendees will explore and learn about the intricacies of mechanistic modelling for microbial cultivations. The course will cover the principles of describing microbial cultivations using biological reaction rate models, including selecting an initial model structure and determining model parameter values using example datasets.
